London Fashion Week: Day One- Maria Grachvogel

February 20, 2010

Maria Grachvogel a/w 2010-11 collection

My first show of LFW 2010 didn’t disappoint.

Shown in the decadent setting of The Waldorf Hilton Hotel, Maria didn’t disappoint with a stunning collection comprising a palette of mainly black and muted grey tones, along with  scarlet, mustard and emerald key pieces.

In hair; the centre parting is back, as are roots. Models had wet-look sleek centre partings pared with brown eye makeup and nude lips.

Key looks within the collection were digital printed silk, an emphasis on the waist, cropped jackets, lots of black leather and ‘Balmania’ doesn’t look set to disappear just yet with a collection full of statuesque shoulders.

Key pieces in the collection included a stunning sheer emerald belted waist jumpsuit in flowing silk and a mustard raw silk shift dress. The so-hot-right-now digital print technique reared its pretty head in the form of luxurious silk maxi dresses complete with hood. A Christopher Kane-eque atomic bomb cloud print caught my eye.

The front row comprised of Henry Conway, Erin O’Connor looking casual chic in rolled up boyfriend jeans and red brogues teamed with on-trend trench coat and Yasmin Le Bon in a draped black one shouldered jumpsuit with camel suede heels and trademark red lipstick.

Invitations were handy notebooks with a digital print cover as seen on the designs.
